Before we invented languages in the plural, where did language come from? No chickens or eggs on this site, mate: here's what the chimps have to say (taken from the Yerkes-Learned Chimpanzee Dictionary):
m m gahk m m - displeasure
ui - fear
a ka a ka - thirst
ku hu ku hu - pleasure
uh uh - welcoming a good friend
gaha gaha - astonishment
mm mm ghak - Joy at food when hungry
ngak mm - same as above
ngak ngak ngak - hunger
m ä ä m - pleasure when eating
mm ä mm - curiosity at strange food
